THERE IS A NOISE
F: Did you say they were in Rome?
M: Yes.
F: It`s at this square and the doves are flying around and they are wearing beautiful clothes and its like in a Fellini movie, right?
M: Yes, exactly like that ?
F: I have the exact same picture
There is a Noise is an invitation to a memory, an exploration of the landscape between what we know to be true, what we’ve heard and that which we can barely remember.
The audience is invited to sit around a table while stories unfold around them in the midst of frying waffle ooze. From the diary of a 16 year-old in 1945, to a child’s escape from war in Sarajevo and to Scandinavia today: There is a Noise asks how a personal story can find its place in the collective and the necessity of investigating the personal in our common history.
How to approach a memory that strongly diverges from one's cultural surroundings and how to offer the audience a shift off perspective, was an ongoing question in the making of this piece.
There is a Noise investigates the blurry line between facts, commemoration and emotions, and consequently memory itself .
How we write, not only our own, but also our collective history.
