About Hestnes / Popović

Freya Sif Hestnes and Marina Popović create work through a common interest in memory, storytelling and how we as individuals take space in a community.

Going at it with a devotion for details and diversions, they insist that the personal and emotional is political and research how this can be experienced in immersive, sensorial and poetical performances.

They work with an enthusiasm for the overlooked in history, often inviting the audience to take part and together question what stories and powerdynamics shape our understanding of ourselves.

The international touring and creating of Hestnes / Popović`s work has been supported by the Danish and Norwegian Arts Councils,  Performing Arts Hub Norway, Fond For Utøvende Kunstnere and The Norwegian Center for new playwriting.
